Keukenhof 2009 – 60th anniversary
In 2009 the theme at Keukenhof will be USA, New Amsterdam/New York, 400 years commemorating the historic relationship between the United States and the Netherlands. In 1609 Henry Hudson founded New Amsterdam commissioned by the West India Company in Holland. New Amsterdam later became New York but several historical links can still be found within the city. At Keukenhof you will be able to see a spectacular flower mosaic of the Statue of Liberty made with more than 25,0000 flower bulbs.
Gardens are a form of autobiography. ~Sydney Eddison, Horticulture magazine
Richard & I were married in 1958. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary this past June. Our daughter Shelley held an open house for us which over 150 friends and family attended. We had a great time looking at old photos and reminising about all the events of this past 1/2 century.
We have been blessed with three daughters (Shelley, Dianna and Amy) and one son (Rick). We also have 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Where has the time flown?
This blog will focus on four topics:
2)Our garden (we are avid gardeners)
3)Travel (We have been blessed to travel a great deal)
4)Activities concerning service to others (community, church, etc)
I hope that what you read will encourage you in some way or inspire you to serve others.
